Part of Hambleton Equine Clinic
James is employed by Hambleton Equine Clinic, a proudly independent equine veterinary centre in North Yorkshire and works across both North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with Hambleton's full support in building a specialist dental service in Lincolnshire.
James works as part of the Hambleton team, heading their dentistry department. He works alongside European and American qualified Specialists in Equine Surgery as well a large team of exceptional equine vets, meaning we have the knowledge, experience and equipment to offer a UK-leading service.
One of the UK's Leading Clinicians in Equine Dentistry
James holds RCVS Advanced Practitioner status in Equine Dentistry. This places him among a small group of veterinary surgeons in the country with formally recognised expertise in the field.
As a veterinary surgeon, James brings a level of clinical capability that goes beyond what is on offer by most practitioners. He is able to provide a truly integrated approach, combining dental expertise with a thorough understanding of the wider clinical picture.
Working in independent practice, rather than for a corporate-owned company also enables a more personal service, fair pricing and freedom to offer the best possible service to horse and owner.
James came from a Lincolnshire farming background, being around horses from a very young age. After he qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2015, he went straight into equine practice and very quickly gravitated to dentistry. James’ interests span all of equine dentistry, from preventive healthcare to complex surgical extractions, and he has a particular interests in periodontal treatments, sinus surgery and endodontics. He is committed to applying the most current evidence-based approaches and advanced diagnostic technology to every case.
James is based in both Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire, with a home base near Horncastle in the centre of Lincolnshire.
“Equine dental disease is present in over 50% of horses, yet much of it goes undetected. Early intervention makes a profound difference to welfare, performance and quality of life.”
